BUILDING IN BOLZANO

The building, entirely designed in Energy Class A, has a large terrace area on each floor that wraps it almost like a skin. The design idea of Studio Area 17 in Bolzano was supposed to ensure a low aesthetic impact, making the railings almost disappear while safeguarding safety.

The proposal was therefore to use buffer panels with steel plate frames and vertical elements in 12 mm round bars. Given the particular exposure and above all the evaluation of climatic factors, not least atmospheric pollution, it was decided to use AISI 316 steel with a satin finish. The presence of an external coat also on the front of the balconies has determined a study of particular concealed attachment flanges; the engineering was handled directly by the Gonzato Contract Technical Department.

The particular care of the finishes, especially of the micro-welds, has led to an aesthetic result of great formal cleanliness.
